Summer Camp OUT is an adventure program for teens aged 14-15. Go hiking, camping, and experience outdoor fun designed to challenge and inspire.

Hike on the Beeripmo Walk and focus on teamwork, the environment, local Indigenous culture & stories, navigation, bushcraft and cooking. Build your skills and have fun on adventure activities such as abseiling, mountain biking and canoeing.  All campers will receive their own personal Summer Camp Out shirt.

Sorry but there are no Family / Sibling or returning camper discounts available for Summer Camp Out.

Campers must be aged 14-15 as at the date of camp to participate in this program. 

Waitlist
Once the camp is fully booked a waitlist will operate. Please register for the waitlist to be offered places that become available due to cancellations (subject to availability).

Payment arrangements
Payment is either in full at time of booking or in 2 x 50% instalments.  Payment by instalment available for bookings made before 30 November. 50% payable at registration. The remaining 50% will be automatically deducted from the same credit card on 28 December 2023.

A tax invoice will be supplied with the online booking confirmation. All bookings are via this online portal. Sorry but we do not accept bookings paid by invoice.

What information do I need to provide when I book?
When you book your child's place on camp we will request contact, medical, dietary and other relevant personal details to assist us best care for your child.

What do I bring on camp?
When you book we will send you a booking confirmation by email. It includes a packing list (including what not to bring) on camp.

What equipment will I need?
Cave Hill Creek will provide packs, sleeping mats, tents and cooking stoves for all participants. 

Essential items include waterproof rain jacket, good quality sleeping bag (with compression sack), gaiters and sturdy hiking boots (not runners). A rain jacket and gaiters can be hired at time of registration if required and will be at camp ready for your child on arrival. Please note that your camper will be unable to participate if they do not have these items. 

Preparing for camp: Pre-Camp online meeting
A pre-camp online meeting will take place in the week prior to camp to assist with planning and preparation. This is a compulsory session to ensure your camper is well prepared and has the correct equipment for camp and knows what to expect!  Details will be provided closer to date.

How fit do I need to be?
Campers should be fit enough to carry a pack and walk up to 10km per day.  Most 14-15 year old's of normal fitness will be capable of this.  Nonetheless to be well prepared we suggest going for 2-3 walks of 2hrs prior to camp!

What are the sleeping arrangements?
Participants will sleep in tents of 2-3 participants of the same gender.
You can make requests to share hike groups/tents with siblings/friends on camp when booking. We will do our best to accommodate these requests.
Campgrounds will have toilets and a shelter.

What is the staff ratio?
There will be 2 staff (at least 1 female) for the first 6 participants, and another 1 staff member for each additional group of 6 participants.

Can I bring my mobile phone?
Camp is tech free. Campers are required to leave their phone and all other smart devices at home. We get kids off the couch, outdoors having fun activating minds and bodies.

Arrival and Departure

Arrival: Please arrive for registration between 10.30-11.15am Monday 8 January. A Welcome and Opening Ceremony will be held at 11.30am.
Departure: A Farewell and Closing Ceremony will be held at 11.30am Friday 12 January, followed by light lunch with final departure by 1pm.
Parents/guardians are welcome to attend the Opening/Closing Ceremonies.

Transport from and to Melbourne
Need transport to camp? Cave Hill Creek provides accompanied return transport to camp from Southern Cross. If you would like your child to use this service it is essential to pre-book with us. Tickets are $80pp. Please meet at Southern Cross station bus terminal at 7.45am Monday prior to departure, and 4pm Friday for return.

Children with Special Needs
Cave Hill Creek is an inclusive and friendly camp. We want every child on camp to feel happy and safe. If your child has special needs please let us know before making a booking. Our staff do not have specialised skills to care for campers requiring additional care or supervision. To ensure the safety of your child, other campers and our staff, if your child has difficulty participating in large groups, needs additional supervision, requires an aide to attend school or has a behavioural support plan, unfortunately this program is unlikely to be suitable for them. 

COVID-19
Cave Hill Creek is a COVID-19 safe venue. Camp will be conducted within Victorian COVID-19 guidelines relevant at the time. If a camper tests positive to Covid-19 or develops Covid-19 symptoms on camp, their family will be asked to collect them.

What's the cancellation / refund policy?
You can transfer to a different camp (subject to availability) or cancel and request a full refund up to 14 days prior to camp. All transfer requests / cancellations should be in writing to info@cavehillcreek.com.au. A $100 administration fee will apply to refunds. If you need to cancel please do so as early as possible so we can fill places from the waitlist with plenty of notice.

This camp needs a minimum of 8 participants to proceed. If the camp is cancelled due to low numbers full refunds will be provided.

Emergency Contact
It is a requirement of booking that a parent or nominated guardian must be contactable, and available to collect your child if required, at all times whilst your child/ren is on camp. If you are going to be away or unavailable, please ensure that your registration includes the nominated guardians contact details. If your child is travelling from interstate or internationally, a contact in Victoria is required and should be listed as your second parent/guardian. 

Extreme Weather / Total Fire Ban Days
Cave Hill Creek has a comprehensive Emergency Management Plan. Should the weather be unsafe for running a program in the Mount Cole State Forest or Mt Buangor State Park, we will make alternative arrangements and modify the program.  Options include returning to Cave Hill Creek or transporting campers to a safer location.  If a Catastrophic fire danger day is declared, Summer Camp Out will be cancelled.
